White Fillings

Fillings – White or amalgam?

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

Metal amalgam fillings have been successfully used to restore teeth for more than 100 years. While it is a strong and long lasting material, it does lack an aesthetic appeal.

Modern white materials are now straightforward to place and in most circumstances, can be used instead of amalgam. They can be used where a tooth is broken or decayed or can be used to replace an existing amalgam filling where these are unsightly. While tooth coloured fillings are suitable for most restorations they are not always able to be performed as an NHS option particularly in teeth towards the back of the mouth.
