Following on from the First Ministers announcement of further easing of lockdown restrictions we thought it important to let all our patients know what this means for dentistry. Although routine dental examinations are permissible from 13th July, a thorough dental examination usually involves the use of our 3 in 1 air/water syringe to dry teeth in order that we can see all surfaces clearly. The use of this instrument is an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) and is still prohibited. We feel that until we are able to use this instrument we are unable to perform examinations thoroughly. As such in line with many dental practices across the country we will not be booking routine examination appointments at present. Using drills and ultrasonic scalers also produce AGPs and are also not yet permitted.

All routine booked appointments are unfortunately still suspended until further notice.

Our practice is open for emergency treatment at present and if you have any concerns regarding your ongoing dental health please call the practice and we will be happy to advise. A limited number of emergency appointments are available in the practice each day. If you need urgent treatment please call the practice by telephone. We really appreciate the patience so many of you have shown and continue to show, and we hope that as restrictions continue to ease we shall see a return to more recognisable dentistry before too much longer. As ever we shall continue to share news of any future changes as soon as possible. Best wishes from all at LRDC.
